Let's not bury the lede: no, our waffle cones are not gluten-free. It's the question we get more than any other — in DMs, in reviews, at the bottom of every product page — and you deserve a straight answer before anything else.
Now the longer, more hopeful version: here's exactly why, what that means if you're avoiding gluten, and what we're doing about it.
Why waffle cones have wheat in them
A waffle cone is, at heart, a thin crispy waffle — and that classic golden crunch comes from wheat flour. It's what lets the cone bake up shatter-crisp and hold a flood of Belgian chocolate without losing its snap. Take the wheat out and you have to rebuild the entire cone from scratch, which is exactly why a good gluten-free waffle cone is rare.
So… is a gluten-free version coming?
It's in development. We get this question daily, we feel the demand, and we're working on a gluten-free cone that meets the same bar as the original — because shipping a sad, crumbly imitation would be very much Not The Fun Part. We don't have a date to promise yet, but when it's ready, you'll hear about it loudly.
The full allergen picture
While we have you, here's the complete rundown so nobody has to squint at a label:
- Contains: milk, wheat and soy — across the lineup.
- Traces possible: our products are made in a facility that also handles nuts and sesame. Two flavors (Hazelnut Cream and Peanut Butter) contain nuts outright.
- Vegetarian: yes, every flavor.
- Vegan / dairy-free: no — even the dark chocolate shares equipment with milk chocolate.
- Kosher: yes, certified kosher (dairy). Non-GMO: also yes.
If you're celiac or seriously gluten-sensitive
We'll say it plainly: today's cones and bites aren't for you, and we'd rather lose a sale than wave you toward wheat. Sign up for the newsletter or follow along on socials — the gluten-free cone is the single most requested thing we're working on, and the people who asked for it will be the first to know.
What you can do in the meantime
If you're buying for a mixed crowd — some gluten-free folks, some not — a couple of moves keep everyone happy: serve the cones in their own bowl (no shared scoops with GF treats), label the dessert board, and make sure there's a genuinely good gluten-free option alongside. Hosting rule of thumb: nobody should have to ask.
